Music Ministry
The
Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Tellico Village seeks to provide
musical experiences and worship training to our entire congregation. The
Scriptures tell us to "Speak to one another with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual
songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to
God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
(Ephesians 5:19-20, NIV) It is our goal to put that Scripture into practice
through the music ministry.

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary choir and Orchestra are the heartbeat of our music
and worship ministry. These vibrant groups love leading our church in worship
each Sunday morning and spending time together as a Music Ministry family. The
church is at its best when it strives for excellence and these two groups strive
to be the best that they can be. We would love for you to join us – all that is
required is a heart for worship and a desire to learn. The
Sanctuary choir requires no audition and the ability to read music while helpful
is not mandatory. Come visit our Wednesday night rehearsal – it is more than
just practicing notes. It is a time of preparation for worship, a time to be
renewed in the middle of the week, and a time to connect with fellow worshipers
who will encourage you.
Orchestra
The Orchestra rehearses and plays for Worship each Sunday morning. Contributions
include playing Preludes, Offertories, Hymns, Postludes and occasionally
accompanying the Sanctuary Choir individually and as an orchestra. It
is open to orchestral instrumentalists. If you play an
instrument, please contact the Minister of Music or one of the orchestra
members. We are continually looking for instrumentalists to
join and contribute to this excellent group.
Handbell Choir
The handbell choir continues to excel musically
playing on a regular basis for our worship services and special events. We have
now expanded to a full five octave of handbells so we can play a wide array of
materials. We rehearse on Wednesday afternoons 5:00–6:15 P.M. Please see the
Minister of Music if you are interested in learning to play handbells or if you
are an experienced player who would like to join us.
Worship
First Baptist Church of Tellico Village understands
the Biblical commands to worship and proclaim our Christian faith through music.
We offer opportunities to sing your faith and to learn how better to praise our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Worshipers gather every Sunday morning to lift our congregational voice in
praise to God. Our Sunday Morning Worship at 8:00 A.M. and 10:15 A.M.
incorporates a variety of congregational and choral material, but leans toward
time-honored hymnody. Knowing
our people come from different denominational traditions, we strive to use a
variety of hymns and music selections which support the theme of the worship
service. Our sanctuary is a wonderfully resonant
room that encourages strong congregational singing. The Sanctuary Choir and
Orchestra provide strong support to our majestic songs of
praise.
Special Events
Each year the music ministry presents special programs throughout the year.
The Liturgical year includes several major events – some
with orchestra, some with drama, some elaborate, some very simply; but all
thoughtfully prepared and appropriately presented.
Music and Worship
The word of God makes it very clear, "God inhabits the praises of His people!"
And so, may our worship and praise be pleasing unto Him.
He is our audience; we are His congregation of participants.
Worshiping God and knowing Him more deeply is our ultimate
goal. That is our passion in the Music/Worship Ministry, and
we invite you to join us! We are committed to growing our
hearts and minds toward God, and by example, teaching our congregation the
importance of worshiping the Father in spirit and in truth. Music,
whether vocal or instrumental, is our vehicle to achieve this goal.
If you have an interest in music and you sense that this is the place to
serve, please don't hesitate to jump right in. We know you
will find openness within our various groups. Whatever your
walk of life, no matter your level of skill, we have a place for you. We hope
