Habitat for Humanity Loudon County

Who we are...

Loudon County Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that works to eliminate poverty housing in Loudon County. We welcome individuals from any faith — or from no faith — who are willing to pick up a hammer to help improve the lives of families needing decent shelter.

What we do...

Loudon County Habitat builds and repairs or renovates houses in partnership with low-income families, and then sells the houses to these families. Future homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, ability to repay an affordable mortgage, and their willingness to partner with Loudon County Habitat. Their mortgage payments contribute to a Fund for Humanity, which in turn provides the money to build more houses. Because our houses are sold at no profit and principally built with volunteer labor, mortgage payments are affordable for low-income families who otherwise would not be able to afford their own home.

You can help...

Volunteers are the very lifeblood of Loudon County Habitat. They fill key roles in our day-to-day work, including on the construction site, in the Home Store, in the administrative office, and in other important ways. Volunteers assist with family selection, they serve as support for our partner families, they help with fundraising, and they share the Habitat story with others, both on a personal level and when they speak at civic clubs or other organizations. For more information about becoming involved with Loudon County Habitat for Humanity, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sammie Shanks at (865) 458-0704, or stop by our office at 238 Highway 72 W, Lenoir City, TN, 37771.
