Charlie holds a Master of Religious Education degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has a total of 34 years in the ministry, has pastored two churches in South Carolina and has pastored First Baptist Church of Tellico Village since 2005.
Kem grew up in the Ozarks. He is a humble man, who has a desire to serve God with all his heart, soul, and mind. His greatest passion is to disciple people as followers of Jesus Christ. Kem holds a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar Mo., and a Master of Art in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Tx. He has over 40 years of ministry experience serving a church Missouri and with two churches in North Carolina. Kem and his wife, Carol have been married for over 40 years and have four daughters and three grandchildren. He began serving at First Baptist Church of Tellico Village in May 2019.
David Whipple, Jr.
Minister of Music and Congregational Life
David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a minor in Music Business from Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and Master of Church Music Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. With over 35 years of ministry experience, he has served churches in Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee. David and his wife, Angela have been married 40 years and have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. He has served at First Baptist Church of Tellico Village since August 2015.
Louise Phillips has been the Administrative Assistant at FBC Tellico Village for 13 years. She is originally from Southeast Missouri but has lived in Tennessee for 60 years. She and her husband, Allen have been married 50 years. They have two children and four grandchildren. "It has been a joy to serve the Lord in this position and with this wonderful congregation."
Associate Pastor Emeritus
After serving in the ministry for 61 years, Glenn retired on December 31, 2018. He has degrees from Carson Newman University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and The International Institute of Biblical Studies. Glenn served churches in Kentucky and Tennessee; the last fifteen years with First Baptist Tellico Village. Glenn and his wife, Shirley have been married 60 years. They have 2 children and 6 grandchildren. He has owned his own business and taught at Doyle High School. Glenn continues to teach and supported the ministry as needed.
Minister of Music Emeritus
After serving the First Baptist Church of Tellico Village for more than 12 years and the Music Ministry for more than 50 years, including 25 years at First Baptist Knoxville, TN, Eugene retired May 31, 2017. Eugene served churches in Virginia, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. He and his wife, Beth continue to enjoy participation in the Ministry at First Baptist Tellico Village, serving wherever needed. Eugene and Beth have been married for 54 years. They have two daughters and 6 grandsons.
In retirement, Beth and Eugene are enjoying travel and family.
